Overview of this Critical Patch Release ======================================================================== Note: Please install this Critical Patch before completing any procedures in this section (see "Installation"). 1.1 Issues ===================================================================== This Critical Patch resolves the following issue: Issue 1: When an OfficeScan 10.6 client cannot upgrade its Behavior Monitoring engine, it automatically downloads the "newpnt.zip" file from the server and performs a program update even when it is blocked from running a program update through the "noprogramupdate" setting. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 1: This critical patch ensures that the "noprogramupdate" setting works properly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Issue 2: Some OfficeScan clients remain in the "Updating" status after an update because these clients are still waiting for some update threads to terminate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 2: This critical patch adds a timeout function for update threads to ensure that OfficeScan clients do not remain in the "Updating" after an update. 1.2 Enhancements ===================================================================== There are no enhancements for this critical patch release. 1.3 Files Included in this Release ===================================================================== A. Installation/Uninstallation ======================================================================== 4.1 Installation ===================================================================== To install this critical patch: 1. Copy the critical patch executable file to a temporary folder, for example, "C:\temp". 2. Double-click the file. The modules are automatically copied to the correct destination. This critical patch installation package automatically rolls back the OfficeScan server to its previous configuration if there are problems during installation. If you encounter problems after installation, do a manual rollback. 4.2 Uninstallation ===================================================================== To manually roll back to its previous configuration: 1. Locate the backup folder that the critical patch package created in the "\PCCSRV\Backup\CriticalPatch_B5495" directory. 2. Copy the backup modules to the original folders. 5. Post-installation Configuration ======================================================================== No post-installation steps are required. Note: Trend Micro recommends that you update your scan engine and virus pattern files immediately after installing this critical patch. 6.
