Installation Overview ======================================================================== This section explains the key steps for installing this product. For detailed installation steps, refer to the Installation and Deployment Guide. Install the Mobile Device Agent (the Mobile Security client program) on supported mobile device platforms using one of the following methods: - SMS message notification - Memory card - Manual installation 6. Post-Installation Configuration ======================================================================== Refer to the User's Guide for details. Note: Trend Micro recommends that you update your scan engine and malware pattern files immediately after installing the product. 7. Known Issues ======================================================================== 7.1 Cannot disable the built-in system password feature before installing the encryption module. The Lock option in the Policies > Personal screen is disabled. --------------------------------------------------------------------- This problem is caused by a third-party application installed on your mobile device (for example, Push-Mail). The third-party application may have enabled the system password security feature and prevented you from changing the policies again. To disable the system password security feature and install the encryption module for Mobile Security: a. Use a registry editor to change the value of the key "00001023" to "1" in the path "HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\" on your mobile device. After this, you should be able to change the policies for the system password security feature. b. Disable the system password security feature. c. Perform a manual update for Mobile Security on the mobile device. This starts the encryption module installation process. 7.2 Sometimes unable to stop a manual scan. --------------------------------------------------------------------- When you manually scan a file larger than 1-MB, you may be unable to stop the manual scan while it is in process. 7.3 When an ActiveSync or Wi-Fi connection is available, Mobile Security can still connect to the server through GPRS, without providing a connection alert screen. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The method used to establish an Internet connection varies according to the mobile device configuration. For example, if the mobile device connects to the Internet using GPRS (set in "Network Management") some mobile devices will use GPRS for Internet access regardless whether an ActiveSync or Wi-Fi network is available. Mobile Device Agent uses the same Internet connection settings as Internet Explorer (IE). Mobile Security will not detect the connection type for the mobile device because it may have more than one network adapter. For this reason, a connection alert screen will not appear. 7.4 Registration SMS may not be parsed on some mobile devices. --------------------------------------------------------------------- When the Mobile Device Agent is installed through the SMS message notification, the registration SMS may remain in the inbox and the Mobile Device Agent will not register. This is deficiency of the operating system (OS). To successfully register to the server, request that your administrator send you the registration SMS again after you complete the installation. Note: This applies to Palm, SoftBank X02HT, and X01T mobile devices. 7.5 Copying a file from a PC to the SD card on the Treo 700w is very slow. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Copying files like: "doc" or "MP3", from a PC to an SD card on the Treo 700w is slow due to a hardware problem. To increase the copy speed, try copying the files from a PC to the mobile device's internal memory. 7.6 Cannot return to the Smartphone OS Settings page after completing an uninstallation. --------------------------------------------------------------------- If Smartphone uninstall protection is enabled and the password prompt is moved to the background during the uninstallation process, the user may be unable to return to the Smartphone OS Settings page when the uninstallation completes. To resolve, press the Backspace key on the keyboard to return to the OS Settings page. 7.7 Mobile Security upgrade unsuccessful. --------------------------------------------------------------------- If Mobile Security is installed on the memory card and a memory card scan is launched during the upgrade process, the upgrade may be unsuccessful. To avoid this issue, disable the memory card scan before performing the upgrade. 7.8 The Anti-Spam feature does not work on SoftBank X02HT & X01T Devices. --------------------------------------------------------------------- This is caused by the limitations in the Operating System of SoftBank X02HT and X01T mobile devices. 7.9 A firewall driver warning dialog appears when the mobile device is restarted. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The following warning dialog appears when the device is restarted: "Firewall driver is not loaded. To use firewall it is necessary to reboot device. Restart?" Select "No", to close the dialog. The firewall warning indicates that the system has failed to load the Firewall module because the firewall feature could not be used on the mobile device. This only affects the firewall feature and does not affect other system features. 7.10 Mobile Security menus do not display correctly on HTC Diamond. --------------------------------------------------------------------- When switching between menus on HTC Diamond, some menus may appear blank. This problem is caused by the Operating System's incompatibility. 7.11 Encrypted content appears as readable text in some third-party Personal Information Manager (PIM) tools. --------------------------------------------------------------------- This may occur when the PIM encryption option is changed from enabled to disabled. Mobile Security is unable to purge the third-party tool cache and allows the information to display. To resolve, try closing and reopening the application, rebooting the mobile device, or in some cases manually clearing the cache may be required. 7.12 SonyEricsson X1 left and right keys not working. --------------------------------------------------------------------- When a SonyEricsson X1 is locked, the left and right keys stop working. This is caused by limitations in the Operating System. To resolve, click the soft button at the bottom of the screen. 7.13 Some mobile devices display a character in the power-on password field when the CAP key is pressed. --------------------------------------------------------------------- On some mobile devices, pressing the CAP key displays a character in the power-on password field. Even though the password display shows a character entry when the CAP key is pressed, Mobile Security does not recognize it as an entry, and therefore has no affect on the password entry. 7.14 Pressing the HOME key at the power-on password screen may bypass power-on authentication. --------------------------------------------------------------------- If a mobile device is unlocked, the ActiveSync connection requires a power-on authentication on Smartphone mobile devices. Pressing the HOME key at the power-on password screen may bypass power-on authentication. However, the ActiveSync connection will not connect and therefore, the mobile device data will not be compromised. 7.15 After encryption is enabled on the client mobile device, the ActiveSync connection disconnects and automatically restores the connection. However on some mobile devices, ActiveSync fails to restore the connection until reboot. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To resolve, wait until the Mobile Security finishes loading the encryption policy. If the ActiveSync does not automatically restore the connection, reboot the mobile device to restore the connection. 8.
