Post-Installation Configuration ======================================================================== After installing PortalProtect, configure the antivirus settings in the SharePoint Central Administration and Web content scan settings from the PortalProtect Management Console. This will enable PortalProtect to function correctly. 6.1 To enable the antivirus settings in SharePoint: 1. From within SharePoint, go to SharePoint Central Administration > Security > General Security > Manage antivirus settings. 2. Enable the following: - Scan documents on upload - Scan documents on download - Attempt to clean infected documents 6.2 To enable Web content scan settings in PortalProtect: 1. From PortalProtect, go to the PortalProtect Management Console > Summary > System > Microsoft SharePoint Services. 2. Enable the following: - Scan Web content 6.3 If your PortalProtect server has an antivirus product installed, configure it so that it does not scan the following folders: Note: (Assume C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\PortalProtect as the installation folder). - Temp folder: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\PortalProtect\temp - Backup folder, whose default location is: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\PortalProtect\storage\Backup - Shared Resource Pool folder, whose default location is: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\PortalProtect\SharedResPool For example: if using Trend Micro ServerProtect, add these folders to the Exclude folder list. 7. Known Issues ======================================================================== 7.1 When "Attempt to clean infected documents" is disabled, PortalProtect does not clean the file but the virus log and message on SharePoint indicates that the 'Clean' action was performed. ===================================================================== The clean action is determined by PortalProtect when it scans a cleanable infected file, however, the clean action will not occur when the "Attempt to clean infected documents" setting is disabled. 7.2 SharePoint sometimes displays exceptions after PortalProtect blocks infected files. ===================================================================== SharePoint contains special list types like calendar, tasks, and announcements, which can have files attached. If one of these lists has an infected attachment, PortalProtect will scan and block it. However, after this blocking action occurs, SharePoint displays the PortalProtect action as an exception, because it is determined by SharePoint as an abnormal behavior. 7.3 PortalProtect manual scan does not scan files in the recycle bin or version history. ===================================================================== The files in the recycle bin or SharePoint version history are unavailable to PortalProtect manual scan. Therefore, if a previously infected file is contained in the SharePoint version history or recycle bin, PortalProtect will be unable to scan it. However, if the content of recycle bin or version history is restored, it will be scanned and protected. 8.
