1. About SafeSync for Enterprise
========================================================================
   Trend Micro(TM) SafeSync for Enterprise(TM) allows enterprises to
   securely synchronize, share, and manage corporate data. Deployed on
   premise and in a private cloud, SafeSync provides file encryption and
   document tagging to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data.
   SafeSync also supports file version control and redundant file
   backup.

   Businesses benefit from reduced infrastructure resource usage by
   using file sharing links instead of sending files through email
   servers. The web-based administrator console makes it easy to manage
   users, set coordinated policies and plans, and review logs and
   reports. SafeSync provides administrators the visibility required to
   control data misuse, compliance violations, and security risks.

   1.1 Overview of This Release
   =====================================================================
   This release incorporates new administrative features and many
   enhancements to provide a more secure environment for file
   synchronization and to provide better usability.

   1.2 Who Should Install This Release
   =====================================================================
   You should install this Service Pack if you are currently
   running SafeSync for Enterprise 3.2 server build 1360, 1393, 1419,
   1431, 1469, 1496, or 1508.

2. What's New
========================================================================

   This Service Pack addresses the following issues and/or includes the
   following enhancement(s):

   2.1 Enhancements
   ====================================================================
   The following enhancements are included in this release:

   Enhancement 1: This Service Pack adds the "encrypt-all"
                  function to SafeSync. This function allows
                  administrators to enforce the "encrypt-all" policy
                  to users or groups. All SafeSync files and folders
                  will be automatically encrypted and protected.

   Enhancement 2: This Service Pack updates SafeSync to prevent
                  repeated warning messages from generating in the
                  SafeSync backend logs.

   Enhancement 3: This Service Pack updates the end-user
                  authentication mechanism to improve performance.

   Enhancement 4: This Service Pack updates the SafeSync end-user
                  portal to hide button names when user's monitor uses
                  a low display resolution.

   Enhancement 5: This Service Pack updates the "stay signed in"
                  feature in the Windows and Mac clients. If user's
                  computer loses Internet connection, SafeSync ensures
                  that user's session is kept after the computer
                  connects to the Internet.

   Enhancement 6: This Service Pack adds the German and Spanish
                  language support to the SafeSync end-user portal,
                  clients, and apps.

   Enhancement 7: This Service Pack optimizes the performance and
                  security of HTTPS on the Nginx web server.

   Enhancement 8: This Service Pack updates the backend monitoring
                  mechanism to ensure that all required processes run
                  properly.

   Enhancement 9: This Service Pack adjusts the number of threads
                  according to the machine's CPU numbers.

   Enhancement 10: This Service Pack enhances the health check
                   mechanism of grunjobs and high availability file
                   replication to prevent false alarm system
                   notifications.

   Enhancement 11: This Service Pack aligns the read-only status
                   between mogilefs and SafeSync storage management
                   to correctly show the information on the admin
                   console.

   Enhancement 12: This Service Pack enhances the file upload
                   feature. Users can upload folders to the SafeSync
                   end-user portal using Chrome.

   Enhancement 13: This Service Pack updates the backend command
                   line tool to enhance file preview in the SafeSync
                   end-user portal.

   Enhancement 14: This Service Pack adds a timeout mechanism to
                   the processing of file preview to optimize resource
                   usage.

   Enhancement 15: This Service Pack updates the Gearman requeue
                   job mechanism to prevent repeatedly trying the same
                   job.

   Enhancement 16: This Service Pack updates the Active Directory
                   module to support communication with the backend
                   tool over HTTPS.

   Enhancement 17: This Service Pack adds the Data Loss Prevention
                   function to ensure that only users with a SafeSync
                   account can access files containing sensitive data.

   Enhancement 18: This Service Pack allows users to restore files
                   encrypted or renamed by ransomware.

   Enhancement 19: This Service Pack updates the Mac client to support
                   Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.1 and TLS 1.2.

   Enhancement 20: This Service Pack disables TLS 1.0 to improve
                   security.

   Enhancement 21: This Service Pack upgrades the Trend Micro Smart
                   Protection Network to improve performance and
                   security.

   Enhancement 22: This Service Pack adds the user notification
                   function to help administrators send announcements
                   to all SafeSync users on the end-user portal,
                   Windows client, and Mac client.

   Enhancement 23: This Service Pack adds the access control
                   function to use IP addresses to restrict users to
                   access SafeSync through specific platforms.

   2.2 Resolved Known Issues
   =====================================================================

   NOTE: Please install the Service Pack before completing any
         procedures in this section (see "Installation").

   This release resolves the following issue(s):

   Issue 1: A folder that contains a folder or file that is older
                than it cannot be moved or copied to another team
                folder.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 1:  This Service Pack ensures that these folders can
                be moved or copied to other team folders.
   Issue 2:     An Active Directory (AD) account that inherits the
                plan and policy of another AD account is not
                prioritized the same way as that account which means
                that the AD account may have a lower priority than the
                original account.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 2: This Service Pack ensures that AD accounts that
                inherit the plan and policy of another AD account are
                prioritized the same way as the original account.

   Issue 3: If the Perl load balancer and web server (Perlbal)
                generate a large number of temporary files and the
                upload rate is less than one MB/sec, the PurgeTMP
                process may be triggered too many times and may result
                in a high CPU usage issue.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 3:  This Service Pack helps prevent the high CPU usage
                issue.
   Issue 4:     The query time range of AD sync warning logs is up to
                14 days but the query results only include logs
                generated within the last seven days.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 4: This Service Pack ensures that the time range of
                AD sync warning logs match the time range of results.

   Issue 5: The domain account tree displays a manual account if
                the manual account name matches any domain account
                name and the manual account was created earlier than
                the matching domain account.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 5:  This Service Pack prevents the domain account tree
                from displaying manual accounts.
   Issue 6:     If a folder has been renamed and the new name contains
                a period ".", the folder name will appear truncated.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 6: This Service Pack ensures that the complete folder
                name is displayed.

   Issue 7: Users try to upload files when their company policy
                or storage limit restricts file uploads. SafeSync will
                repeatedly try to upload their files.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 7:  This Service Pack ensures that SafeSync only
                tries to upload the files once.
   Issue 8:     Temp files cannot be deleted if the file-sync
                procedure fails. When this happens, the temp files
                will accumulate and take up disk space.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 8: This Service Pack ensures that temp files are
                deleted promptly when the file-sync process fails.

   Issue 9: Multiple spaces in the branch office's server name
                pass validation and prevent the setup link on the
                admin console from working.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 9:  This Service Pack updates the validation mechanism
                to filter out multiple spaces in the server name.
   Issue 10:    The "Security Settings" page in the SafeSync Outlook
                Extension allows users to set the expiration day in
                the wrong format. Users can specify a number with a
                leading zero and successfully save the setting.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 10: This Service Pack updates the checking function to
                ensure that users will not be able to set invalid
                values.

   Issue 11: The "Security Settings" page in the SafeSync Outlook
                Extension allows users to set an empty password and
                save it successfully without a warning message.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 11: This Service Pack updates the validation mechanism
                to trigger a warning message when users attempt to
                save an empty password.
   Issue 12:    When users click the "About" link in the SafeSync
                Outlook Extension menu, the "Attachment" tab appears
                instead of the "About" tab.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 12: This Service Pack ensures that the "About" tab
                will appear.

   Issue 13: The upload rate slows down when the file size of the
                uploading file exceeds 100 GB.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 13: This Service Pack removes the upload rate
                restriction.
   Issue 14:    When users upload a certificate and there is no
                new line in the end of it, the certificate cannot
                be bundled correctly.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 14: This Service Pack enables SafeSync to
                automatically add a new line to the end of the
                uploaded certificates.

   Issue 15: When the SafeSync server attempts to revert a file
                that is over a day old, it skips the latest file
                version and reverts to the last revision of the file.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 15: This Service Pack enables SafeSync to revert to
                the latest file version and not to the last revision
                of the file.
   Issue 16:    The SafeSync server can store more than 100 file
                versions, but the file reverting process only allows
                users to search for up to 100 versions only.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 16: This Service Pack lifts the search limitation.

   Issue 17: In a high availability environment, the AD module
                connects to the database only through "localhost".
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 17: This Service Pack changes the host name setting
                from "localhost" to "dcdb," which is bound to the
                virtual IP address of the database.
   Issue 18:    When the health check process checks the LDAP
                connection, it automatically notifies administrators
                if it fails to detect a connection within two
                consecutive attempts. This behavior may trigger a
                large number of false alarms in unstable network
                environments.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 18: This Service Pack enables the health check process
                to notify administrators only after five consecutive
                failed attempts to minimize false alarms.

   Issue 19: To improve performance, the installer dynamically
                adjusts the "MaxClients" setting in the Apache(TM)
                web server. The parameter supports values up to 400.
                However, since the "ServerLimit" parameter is not set,
                it limits the value of "MaxClients" to 256.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 19: The Service Pack sets the "ServerLimit" value to
                400 to enable "MaxClients" to take on a value up to
                400.
   Issue 20:    The protocol, host name, and port number of a
                shareable link are set to undefined in Internet
                Explorer 11.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 20: This Service Pack ensures that shareable links
                can be created correctly.

   Issue 21: The SafeSync AD sync module gets an empty member list
                if the syncing group contains more than 1500 members.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 21: This Service Pack ensures that the AD sync module
                can handle this situation correctly.
   Issue 22:    The shareable link of a folder is not accessible if it
                is created by users who have the owner permission of
                the shared folder but do not have the owner or editor
                permission of its parent folder.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 22: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.

   Issue 23: Users with the editor permission cannot browse and
                view the shared team folders correctly if other
                members delete multiple sub team folders.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 23: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.
   Issue 24:    The Storage Management screen on the admin console
                shows a "disk error" message in local storage if the
                storage belongs to the root partition.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 24: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.

   Issue 25: The routine storage status check accidentally unmounts
                local disks.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 25: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.
   Issue 26:    When users try to view a PDF file in Internet Explorer,
                the PDF content might display incorrectly, or users
                might get an HTTP 416 error.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 26: This Service Pack ensures that Internet Explorer
                always opens the latest version of the file to resolve
                the issue.

   Issue 27: The regular cleanup process of the /tmp folder files
                also deletes the /tmp folder if the temp files are
                not modified over 1 day.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 27: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.
   Issue 28:    Users cannot see and sync with existing SafeSync
                folders using the Mac client.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 28: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.

   Issue 29: The admin console could potentially allow attackers to
                trigger arbitrary code execution.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 29: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.
   Issue 30:    Email content becomes unreadable when users reply or
                forward emails containing Hebrew content in the
                subject or message body.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 30: This Service Pack ensures that users can read the
                Hebrew content.

   Issue 31: The CVE-2016-2183 vulnerability can expose SafeSync
                connections to attackers.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 31: This Service Pack removes the Triple-DES cipher
                support in Nginx configuration to resolve the issue.
   Issue 32:    When users view CSV files containing non-ASCII
                characters in the SafeSync web portal, the file
                content displays gibberish characters.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 32: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.

   Issue 33: The Mac client app does not fully support macOS Sierra
                10.12.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 33: This Service Pack ensures that the new version of
                the Mac client app can support macOS Sierra 10.12.
   Issue 34:    The Mac client app creates an extra folder if users
                re-install the Mac client app and sign in with the
                same account.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 34: This Service Pack ensures that the Mac client app
                does not create an extra folder after migration,
                re-installation, or fresh installation.

   Issue 35: Users cannot download via a folder shareable link if
                the link is shared by users who have Editor access to
                the shared folder but do not have the Owner/Editor
                access to the parent folder.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 35: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.
   Issue 36:    The CVE-2016-8704, CVE-2016-8705, and CVE-2016-8706
                vulnerabilities in Memcached can expose SafeSync to
                security risks.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 36: Upgrade the affected Memcached package to
                memcached_1.4.13-0ubuntu2.2 to resolve the issue.

   Issue 37: SafeSync sends notifications related to high
                availability to users even though users only deployed
                a stand-alone SafeSync server.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 37: This Service Pack ensures that the issue is
                resolved.
                System Settings > SMTP Server screen.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 38: This Service Pack ensures that users can still
                test the connection without providing the SMTP server
                credentials.

   Issue 39: SafeSync displays limited information on malware
                detections in the admin console.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                vulnerabilities in MySQL servers can expose SafeSync to
                security risks.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 41: Upgrade the Percona MySQL servers to percona-server
                5.6_5.6.33-79 to resolve the issue.

   Issue 42:    The CVE-2016-6306, CVE-2016-2181, CVE-2016-2179, and
                CVE-2016-6302 vulnerabilities in OpenSSL libraries can
                expose SafeSync to security risks.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 42: Upgrade the OpenSSL libraries to resolve the issue.
   Issue 43:    An error message displays when users try to preview
                TIFF files in the end-user portal.
                the targeted endpoint.
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Solution 45: The backend APIs have been enhanced to avoid the
                issue.

   There are no changes to system requirements.

   Refer to the Installation Guide for detailed information.

5. Installation
========================================================================
   This section explains key steps for installing SafeSync.

   Refer to the Installation Guide for detailed information.

   5.1 Installing
   =====================================================================
   To install:

   Ensure that your SafeSync for Enterprise server is running SafeSync
   for Enterprise 3.2 Build 1360, 1393, 1419, 1431, 1469, 1496, or 1508.

   A server restart is required to complete the installation.

   In a high-availability deployment, install the service pack on one
   of the appliances (appliance 1 or appliance 2). The appliance will
   automatically apply the updates to the other appliance.

   Be careful not to close or refresh the browser during installation.

   Ensure that both SafeSync for Enterprise servers (appliance 1 and
   appliance 2) are connected to the network and working properly
   without errors before installing this Service Pack.

   1) Download the "SSFE-3.2-Linux-sp1.zip" file from the Trend Micro
      Download Center.

   2) Extract the file to get "ssfe_32_linux_sp1".

   3) Log on to the SafeSync for Enterprise administrator console.

   4) Go to "Administration" > "System Updates".

   5) Click "Choose File" and select "ssfe_32_linux_sp1".

   6) Click "Update".

   7) When a confirmation message appears, click "Yes".

   Note: The Service Pack installation may take a long time and result
   in administrator console timeout. When a timeout occurs, log on to
   the administrator console after around 30 minutes to verify that the
   Service Pack successfully installed and all changes have been applied.

   5.2 Uninstalling
   =======================================================
   This Service Pack does not support rolling back to the previous
   version. Please be prepared before installing this Service Pack.

6. Post-Installation Configuration
========================================================================
   After installing the Service Pack, clean your browser cache and log
   on to the admin console again for all changes to take effect.

7. Known Issues
========================================================================
   Known issues in this release:

   7.1 Auto-encryption issues
   =====================================================================
   a. Once the auto-encryption setting is turned on, if users try to
      sync a folder that contains applications (for example, Outlook),
      the synced applications may not work properly.

   b. Once the auto-encryption setting is turned on, a ".spt" suffix
      will be added to SafeSync files. Users will not be able to access
      existing shareable links because the file names are changed.

   7.2 HTML5 folder upload issue
   =====================================================================
   HTML5 folder uploads in the end-user portal only works in Chrome.

   7.3 Local Smart Protection Server issue
   =====================================================================
   Local Smart Protection cannot work if the local Smart Protection
   Server locates within user's network environment and has not upgraded
   to verion 2.x.

   7.4 Outlook Extension issue
   =====================================================================
   The SafeSync Outlook Extension cannot work if Microsoft .NET
   Framework 4.5 (or above) is not installed. Microsoft .NET Framework
   4.5 is required for SafeSync to support TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2.
