Critical Patch Release Information ======================================================================== 1.1 Resolved Known Issues ==================================================================== There are no issues for this Critical Patch release. 1.2 Enhancements ==================================================================== The following enhancements are included in this Critical Patch: Enhancement 1: Windows 10 21H2 & Windows 11 21H2 are now supported. Enhancement 2: During component updates via the Trend Micro ActiveUpdate server or Management Program, the existing components should be removed when they are replaced with updated components. Previously there was an issue that if the update process was executed in an environment which contained any non-ASCII characters in the user account name, the components could not be deleted correctly. This patch fixes this issue. Enhancement 3: This patch contains a vulnerability fix. 2. Installation ======================================================================== This section explains key steps for installing the Critical Patch. 4.1 Installing ==================================================================== To install this service patch on a Scanning Tool: 1. Log on to the computer using an account with administrator privileges and connect the Scanning Tool. 2. Copy and extract the "tmps_20_win_en_st_patch_b8056.zip" file to a local folder on the computer where you have connected the Scanning Tool. 3. If the Scanning Tool Program is running at this time, close it, otherwise proceed to the next step. 4. If the computer does not have the Management Program, copy the "SupportTool" folder including sub folders and files for the Scanning Tool to a local folder on the computer. 5. Double-click the "Trend Micro Portable Security 2 Diagnostic Toolkit" item from the Microsoft(TM) Windows(TM) "Start" menu, or double-click the "TMPSSuprt.exe" file in the "SupportTool"folder you copied. * For 32-bit operating systems, SupportTool\Win32\TMPSSuprt.exe * For 64-bit operating systems, SupportTool\x64\TMPSSuprt.exe 6. Go to the "[B] More Tools > 2. Use the Updates" page. 7. Choose the "Apply Hot fix" option and click "Next". 8. Click "Browse" and choose the "st_sp.bin"file. 9. Click "Apply". To install this critical patch on the Management Program: 1. Log on to the computer using an account with administrator privileges. 2. Copy and extract the "tmps_20_win_en_mp_patch_b8056.zip" file to a local folder on the computer where you have installed the Management Program. 3. If the Management Program is running at this time, close it,otherwise proceed to the next step. 4. Safely remove all connected Scanning Tools. 5. Double-click the "MP_Install.exe" file. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. The Trend Micro Portable Security 2 service restarts. 4.2 Uninstalling ==================================================================== To manually roll back to the previous Trend Micro Portable Security 2 build on the Scanning Tool: 1. Log on to the computer using an account with administrator privileges and connect the Scanning Tool. 2. If the Scanning Tool Program is running at this time, close it, otherwise proceed to the next step. 3. If the Management Program is not installed on the computer, copy the "SupportTool" folder including sub-folders and files from the Scanning Tool to a local folder on the computer. 4. Double-click the "Trend Micro Portable Security 2 Diagnostic Toolkit" item on the Windows "Start" menu, or double-click the "TMPSSuprt.exe" file in the "SupportTool" folder you copied. * For 32-bit operating systems, SupportTool\Win32\TMPSSuprt.exe * For 64-bit operating systems, SupportTool\x64\TMPSSuprt.exe 5. Go to the "[B] More Tools > 1. Reset Device" page. 6. Choose the "Default Program Settings" option and click "Next". 7. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the Scanning Tool. To uninstall this critical patch on the Management Program: 1. No special uninstallation instructions are provided. 5. Prior hotfixes were tested at the time of their release. [Patch 8052] Issue 1: Rescue Disk may not save the scanning log correctly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 1: This hotfix ensures Rescue Disk can save the scanning log correctly even if there is no basic information (ex. product_uuid or serial number) for the motherboard. Issue 2: In Rescue Disk scan results, the number of scanned files doesn't save correctly while the scan action "confirm before quarantines starts" is enabled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 2: The number of scanned file will now show the correct number. Enhancement 1: Support for Windows 10 21H1 Enhancement 2: Several minor bug fixes [Patch 8047] Enhancement 1: Support for Windows 10 20H2 Enhancement 2: Several minor bug fixes [Patch 8043] Enhancement 1: Fixed issue of Scanning Tool potentially crashing in Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC x64 Enhancement 2: Several minor bug and vulnerability fixes [Patch 8041] Issue 1: After applying patch 8035 or 8040 to a version of Portable Security below SP2(2.0.5118), attempts to synchronize settings from Management Program to Scanning Tool will fail. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 1: After you apply this fix, Scanning Tool will be able to synchronize settings with Management Program. [Patch 8040] Issue 1: The action "Export Logs" may export databases with the wrong number of scan logs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 1: This hotfix ensures databases are exported with the correct number of scan logs compared to the “Logs and Reports” page. Issue 2: After applying patch CP8035, running a scan with Trend Micro Portable Security, and then rebooting the system, Trend Micro Safe Lock TXOne Edition Agent Service will not run. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 2: Apply this hotfix, which will fix the problem by ensuring Trend Micro Portable Security will no longer update drivers for Trend Micro Safe Lock TXOne Edition. Enhancement 1: Extended support for Windows 10 19H2 Enhancement 2: Malware removal in 32-bit environments previously required a restart after applying patch CP8035. It now no longer requires an endpoint restart. [Critical Patch 8035] Issue 1: The Scanning Tool is unable to properly identify file and folder names on Windows 10 endpoints when the case-sensitivity is enabled. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 1: This critical patch resolves the case-sensitivity issue so that users can properly scan files and folders on Windows 10 endpoints. [Hotfix 8031] Issue 1: An issue prevents users from applying a bandage pattern to the Scanning Tool. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Solution 1: This hotfix resolves the issue so that users can apply bandage patterns to the Scanning Tool. 8.
