Resolved Known Issues

This Patch resolves the following issue(s):

Issue 1

We fixed a display issue causing the Scan Engine Version to not display correctly in the Scan Log.

Issue 2

Rescue Disk may not save the scanning log correctly.

Solution

This hotfix ensures Rescue Disk can save the scanning log correctly even if there is no basic information (ex. product_uuid or serial number) for the motherboard.

Issue 3

In Rescue Disk scan results, the number of scanned files doesn't save correctly while the scan action "confirm before quarantine starts" is enabled.

Solution

The number of scanned file will now show the correct number.

Issue 4

Rescue Disk does not show the message to remove the TMPS device correctly after finishing a scan.

Solution

This hotfix ensures Rescue Disk shows the message after finishing a scan.

The Command Line Interface (CLI) can now be used to install or uninstall the Scanning Tool Agent or pre-configure its settings. The pre-configuration tool (STAgentConfigGen.exe) is in the TMPS Agent folder. On a computer with the Scanning Tool Agent installed, the CLI can also be used to activate a Scanning Tool. When the user plugs the Scanning Tool into the computer, the Scanning Tool Agent can then be connected to Management Program for activation.

Enhancement 4

The “Scanning Tool ID” is now included while collecting information from the endpoint to make it easier to know which asset information is collected by which Scanning Tool.

4. Installation

Installing

To install this patch on a Scanning Tool:

  1. Log on to the computer using an account with administrator privileges and connect the Scanning Tool.
  2. Copy and extract the "tmps_30_win_en_st_patch_b5040.zip" file to a local folder on the computer where you have connected the Scanning Tool.
  3. If the Scanning Tool Program is running at this time, close it, otherwise proceed to the next step.
  4. If the computer does not have the Management Program, copy the "SupportTool" folder including sub folders and files for the Scanning Tool to a local folder on the computer.
  5. Double-click the "Trend Micro Portable Security 3 Diagnostic Toolkit" item from the Microsoft™ Windows™ "Start" menu, or double-click the "TMPSSuprt.exe" file in the "SupportTool" folder you copied.

    • For 32-bit operating systems, SupportTool\Win32\TMPSSuprt.exe
    • For 64-bit operating systems, SupportTool\x64\TMPSSuprt.exe
  6. Go to the "[B] More Tools > 2. Use the Updates" page.
  7. Choose the "Apply Hot fix" option and click "Next".
  8. Click "Browse" and choose the "st_sp.bin"file.
  9. Click "Apply".

To install this patch on the Management Program:

  1. Log on to the computer using an account with administrator privileges.
  2. Copy the "tmps_30_win_en_mp_patch_b5040.exe" file to a local folder on the computer where you have installed the Management Program.
  3. If the Management Program is running at this time, close it,otherwise proceed to the next step.
  4. Safely remove all connected Scanning Tools.
  5. Double-click the "tmps_30_win_en_mp_patch_b5040.exe" file.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. The Trend Micro Portable Security 3 service restarts.

Uninstalling

To manually roll back to the previous Trend Micro Portable Security 3 build on the Scanning Tool:

  1. Log on to the computer using an account with administrator privileges and connect the Scanning Tool.
  2. If the Scanning Tool Program is running at this time, close it, otherwise proceed to the next step.
  3. If the Management Program is not installed on the computer, copy the "SupportTool" folder including sub-folders and files from the Scanning Tool to a local folder on the computer.
  4. Double-click the "Trend Micro Portable Security 3 Diagnostic Toolkit" item on the Windows "Start" menu, or double-click the "TMPSSuprt.exe" file in the "SupportTool" folder you copied.

    • For 32-bit operating systems, SupportTool\Win32\TMPSSuprt.exe
    • For 64-bit operating systems, SupportTool\x64\TMPSSuprt.exe
  5. Go to the "[B] More Tools > 1. Reset Device" page.
  6. Choose the "Default Program Settings" option and click "Next".
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the Scanning Tool.

To uninstall this patch on the Management Program: No special uninstallation instructions are provided.
